Homemade shampoo and conditioner

We've been making and using our own shampoo and conditioner for over a year now. It's been working really well. Neither Chris or I have noticed any difference with our hair by using it and it's a helluva lot cheaper than buying shampoo!! It's also much better for the environment as there are no nasty chemicals in it. The recipe is pretty simple really. We make it up in 1 litre containers and just tip that on our hair when we wash it (you may need to shake the shampoo up though before you use it ;))

There are a few variations of these recipes, but these are the quantities we have found work well.

Shampoo

1 tbs bicarb
1 cup of water

Mix until combined

Conditioner

1 tbs apple cider vinegar
1 cup water

Mix until combined

It's not exactly rocket science, is it? ;)

That's awesome, thank-you. This is something I always "meant" to look into but never got around to *blush* now I don't have to, thanks!

Hey, can you tell me about "we play"...what it means to have the logo on your blog/what you do there/what they do etc?

Hi Sazz, it's basically just a link up. Every week, people add their blog posts about what their kids have been playing. Anyone is welcome to join in. Having the logo on your blog just means that you participate in it. Click on the button and have a look at this week's posts, you'll get the general idea ;)

Hey Narelle!

I've been doing something similar for a while now too - although I use a bit more bicarb and make it a bit more paste like, and don't bother with the apple cider vinegar - just use regular old vinegar. When my psoriasis plays up I run out to the garden and grab a handful of rosemary, let it steep in boiling water for a bit or until it cools and add the vinegar to that! Its quite soothing! Also, you can try adding a drop of essential oil if you want to smell sweet... XX

Bec, I remembered that you use this too. Great idea with the rosemary and scented oils though, will have to give it a go sometime! Every time we go to make up the shampoo I forget the quantities we use so thought it would be a good idea to write it down lol!
